As the days get shorter and colder, it is getting more and more difficult to get through the work day. Finally making it to 5 o’clock, and getting to go home are often the highlights of your week. But sometimes we need even more of a pick-me-up.
…And let’s not kid ourselves. A hard day’s work can make you want a drink. That’s where Happy Hour comes in.
Winding down with colleagues or friends, and enjoying a delicious drink deal, could be just what you need.
Here’s an official guide to where you can find some of the best Happy Hour deals in the city.
Side Door Contemporary Kitchen & Bar: If you work in the downtown area, stop by Side Door between 4:30pm-6:30pm, for a $6 pint, $6.50 cocktail, $7 wine, and if you’re hungry, $2 off their famous tacos.
The Grand Pizzeria & Bar: In the heart of the Byward Market, between 3pm-6pm, stop by The Grand for half priced pizzas (with the purchase of a beverage), $20 pitchers of sangria, an $5 draught beer. Rumour has it that their pizza and sangria combo is well-worth ditching your diet for.
The Standard Luxury Tavern: If you work in the downtown/centretown area, The Standard offers one hell of a Happy Hour deal. Between 4pm-6pm, everything on their menu is $6. That’s right, I said it, $6. If you’re looking to enjoy a delicious appetizer and a beer for under $20, look no further.
Chateau Lafayette: For an extended Happy Hour, in a bar that has been around for longer than Ottawa has even been a city, and by far has the most character, stop by The Laff between 6pm-11pm, and enjoy $12 pitchers, and $4 Jägermeister.
Patty Bolands: To finish off your week, Patty Bolands offers $5 appetizers, and $3.50 Alexander Keith’s, all day, every Friday. You can’t not end your work week with a beer and an app.
